The “990”, New Balance’s most iconic heritage series

New Balance’s 990 series began in 1982 when the first model was released as a running shoe for paved roads. It was sold at a price of $100, an expensive price in the running shoe market at the time, and the model was named the 990, meaning “On a scale of 1000 this shoe is a 990 (achieved 990 points out of 1000). Since then, it has been repeatedly updated as New Balance’s heritage series and has continued for 12 generations: 990, 995, 996, 997, 998, 999, 990v2, 991, 992, 993, 990v3, and 990v4.

The ” M992 ” released in 2006 is known as the favorite model of that Steve Jobs. Mr. Jobs is famous for wearing a black turtleneck by Issey Miyake, Levi’s jeans, and New Balance sneakers on his feet to a product launch event.
