Who are the major domestic & international supplement manufacturers? And the differences between them!

Four major domestic supplement makers!

Domestic supplement manufacturer ➀ “DHC (DHC)

DHC, which boasts about 15 million mail-order members, is the largest manufacturer of supplements in Japan. DHC’s name comes from the initials of the company’s name, “University Translation Center,” which was originally a translation company that provided translation services for university laboratories. DHC’s products are generally characterized by their small size, easy to swallow, and low price, making them affordable. Multivitamins and vitamin C are popular.

Domestic supplement manufacturer ➀ Asahi

Asahi HD’s “Dianatura” line of supplements has followed DHC’s lead in popularity, and although it is a relatively new entry into the market, launched in 2007, its user base continues to grow. All of Dianatura’s products are small and easy to swallow, as research is conducted daily to make sure that the necessary ingredients are available in small, easy-to-swallow capsules. The fact that the products are manufactured in a factory in Japan provides peace of mind, and the price is kept low. The multivitamin and mineral supplements have become very popular products.

Domestic supplement manufacturer (3) “Otsuka Pharmaceutical

Otsuka Pharmaceutical is famous for its Pocari Sweat, but in the supplement category, the company offers the ” Nature Made ” series. Nature Made was originally developed in the United States and introduced to Japan in 1993, where it has been sold ever since. Therefore, although the products are handled by a Japanese company, they have the unique structure of being an American brand. Nature Made was established in the U.S. in 1972, and for about 50 years it has focused exclusively on research and development of supplements, making it a highly reliable brand. Its products, which have been modified for the Japanese market, also reflect these characteristics. Nature Made’s fish oil supplements are particularly popular.

Domestic supplement manufacturer ( 4 ) ” FANCL

In 1994, FANCL was the first company in Japan to use the word “supplement,” which was unfamiliar in Japan at the time. The company’s name comes from the phrase “fine chemical = unadulterated chemical product. In addition to supplements, FANCL also sells beauty cosmetics. FANCL products are additive-free, and their quality is extremely high among Japanese manufacturers. Its most popular supplement is ” CaroLimit,” which supports weight loss by reducing the absorption of sugar and fat. Prices seem relatively high, and the company’s target demographic is people in their 30s and older.
