Trench coat detail (4) “D-ring (D-can)”

A D-can sewn into the belt. At the time, they were used to hang hand grenades. Today, it is unlikely to be used for hanging anything, but the fact that it is firmly fixed to the stitched belt and maintains its strength is a remnant that reflects the demands of the World War I era, when an accidental fall could be fatal. These details are faithfully reproduced in a classic trench coat with an emphasis on tradition.

Trench coat detail #5: “Storm shield (umbrella yoke)”

The double-layered flap-like structure from the shoulders to the back is called a storm shield (umbrella yoke). This detail was designed to prevent water from entering the garment during storms. This detail, which is sewn in a slightly sloping shape, allows water to slide off the garment.

Trench coat detail #6: “Inverted pleats”

The pleats at the hem of the backstyle are structured like folds that butt up against each other. The pleats are cut in a wide enough area to reach the waist, and spread wide when the inside button is undone. It is said that this functional design was devised to prevent the movement of open legs when riding in a war zone.
