Military jacket representative model 6: “N-3B
The N-3B is a flight jacket for aircrews adopted by the U.S. Air Force in 1948. It was designed to be worn in the heavy zone (-30 to -10 degrees Celsius), so it has excellent heat retention properties. Its predecessor, the N-3A, had adopted the Air Force blue color due to Air Force independence, but this color was changed to sage green because it was too conspicuous, and the N-3B was born. Another distinctive detail is that the drawcord at the waist is hidden inside and the sleeve ribs are contained within the cuffs to improve wind shielding. Incidentally, the N-3B is still used by ground crews at air bases in Alaska.
