How was the global sports manufacturer ” NIKE ” born?
NIKE” is a global sports manufacturer that is so well known that it is no exaggeration to say that there is no one who does not know the name of the company. The name of the company was “Blue Ribbon Sports” instead of “Nike” at the time of its establishment. The company had been developing sports shoes in collaboration with the Japanese sports shoe manufacturer ” Onitsuka Tiger ” before its establishment, and imported Onitsuka Tiger shoes and sold them in the U.S. after Blue Ribbon Sports was established. When the contract with Onitsuka Tiger was terminated with the aim of improving profits, he took over Onitsuka Tiger’s engineers and began designing, producing, and selling the shoes himself. This led to the birth of “Nike,” which became a big hit in 1972 with the release of the “Waffle Trainer,” a model with a waffle sole developed with a hint from a waffle baking mold, and achieved significant growth, leading the company to officially use the brand name “Nike” as its official company name.
