History of G-SHOCK “Frogman” (3) 1999: The 3rd generation “DW-9900
The “DW-9900,” a smaller model that retained the Frogman’s distinctive design. New features included an automatic EL backlight and a dial that emitted light when the watch was tilted, even underwater. The DW-9900 is also equipped with an ID function for storing contact information, blood type, and C-card (diving certification) numbers, making it an ideal model for divers.

The Tough Solar function, a solar-powered recharging system, eliminates the need to replace batteries in sunlight or other light conditions, and also eliminates the need for sudden watch stoppages.
After that, releases stopped for a while, but after eight years, the fifth and sixth generations followed, and a new seventh generation will be introduced in 2020.
