Is aerobic exercise essential for fat burning? From its advantages and disadvantages to tips on how to make it more effective!

Muscle training alone, which improves metabolic function, is effective for weight loss, but aerobic exercise is essential if you want to reduce fat even more. In addition to its fat-burning effect, aerobic exercise has been shown to have other beneficial effects, and there is a great deal of evidence to support its effectiveness. In this issue, we focus on “aerobic exercise” and introduce its advantages, disadvantages, and tips to increase its effectiveness!

Why is aerobic exercise effective for fat burning?

The reason why aerobic exercise is effective for fat burning can be easily understood by knowing the difference between aerobic and anaerobic sources of energy. This is because both types of exercise utilize energy called ATP, but the materials used to produce ATP are different. In anaerobic exercise such as muscle training, glycogen stored in the muscles is the main source of ATP, which produces explosive force instantaneously but is quickly depleted. In contrast, aerobic exercise, such as aerobic biking and running, produces ATP mainly from fat. In other words, as long as the body does not run out of fat, it will continue to synthesize ATP, which means that it is constantly being burned during aerobic exercise. This is why aerobic exercise is said to be so effective in burning fat.

Advantages of Aerobic Exercise

For those who want to lose fat, the great benefit is that it is highly effective in burning fat. But that is not the only great benefit of aerobic exercise. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), “A review of studies from the past 40 years shows that age-related dementia and unfavorable changes in brain function are reduced by physical exercise and aerobic exercise, as well as the maintenance of the brain’s ability to compensate for function.” In other words, aerobic exercise can prevent blurring, learning ability, and concentration. It has also been shown to be effective in preventing and improving depression, and aerobic exercise is as effective as or more effective than antidepressants. Working adults should be aware of such benefits in addition to the effect of weight loss, as a decline in brain function and loss of motivation to get laid can greatly affect their quality of life.

Disadvantages of Aerobic Exercise

As with muscle training, again, the biggest disadvantage to bodybuilding can be summed up in one point: ” It takes time. However, rest assured that the hurdle for aerobic exercise is not as high as the general public image. Although it is time-consuming, you do not need to do it every day. You can enjoy the aforementioned advantages by doing 30 minutes of exercise three times a week. Incidentally, when aerobic exercise is incorporated for the purpose of fat burning, high-intensity exercises such as running and swimming are more effective in improving cardiopulmonary function than in burning fat, so light exercises such as walking and aerobics are said to be better for burning fat efficiently.

Is it true that aerobic exercise reduces muscle mass?

One of the most common information one hears about aerobic exercise is that ” aerobic exercise causes muscle loss. This is most worrisome to bodybuilders, but the current theory is that ” aerobic exercise “in an energy-depleted state” will cause muscle loss. In aerobic exercise, fat and sugar are the main energy sources, and when they run out, the muscles are broken down and recharged with sugar from amino acids. In other words, unless you are restricting your diet and doing excessive aerobic exercise, you have little to worry about losing muscle mass.
