Stone Island Launches the “MINERAL DYING” Series, Exploring the Theme of Fall/Winter 2026–27

For this brand campaign, “Community as a Form of Research,” Stone Island has featured Simjae (also known as EZTAG), a photographer based in Seoul, South Korea.Known as an avid Stone Island collector and archivist, as well as the founder of the art book label and bookstore “Hugan Books,” he is pictured wearing the hooded jacket “Q100045 MINERAL DYED COTTON GABARDINE – TC,” which symbolizes this series.

”’Q100045 MINERAL DYED COTTON GABARDINE - TC’ Details”

“Q100045 MINERAL DYED COTTON GABARDINE – TC” features a cotton gabardine made with 60% recycled cotton—created by sorting and regenerating cotton scraps generated during Stone Island’s production process and transforming them into a new blended yarn. The front features a vertical snap pocket, and the elbow patches—which evoke designs from the brand’s early days—are rendered using a print based on the same dyeing recipe. The mineral dye, made from inorganic pigments derived from industrial-grade iron oxide, draws inspiration from the uneven, chalky texture of dust accumulated by a sandstorm. This technique brings out a powdery appearance and a textured depth, while the heavy, high-density weave further enhances the vintage-like feel. This dyeing technique not only further highlights the “Soil” theme that runs throughout this season’s collection but also transforms the natural hues and textures of the earth into garment treatments unique to Stone Island.
