The third collaboration is a collection that reconstructs the archives held by denim enthusiast NIGO®︎
It has been 150 years since the birth of 501®︎, the masterpiece of Levi’ s®︎. To commemorate this historical milestone, a collaborative collection with NIGO®︎ will be launched on April6, 2023. A pioneer in the street scene, NIGO®︎ has been collecting vintage Levi’s items for decades and is such a denim enthusiast that he has one of the largest private collections in the world. Following the first collaboration in 2021, in which he reproduced his archival items, and the second collaboration with ” HUMANMADE®︎”, this time he has created two items inspired by his vintage collection under the theme ” The Future is in the Past “. The Future is in the Past”, and this time he created two items inspired by his vintage collections.
Specially developed hickory material is used for this collection! All collection items also come with a special commemorative novelty!
This collection includes two pieces: the hickory striped 501® and the hickory striped Tracker Jacket 557XX. Both are made in Japan with traditional craftsmanship. All items in this collaborative collection come with a special Levi’s® x NIGO® tote bag and hangtags from both brands to celebrate the 150th anniversary.
NIGO HICKORY STRIPE 501®
The 501® is made of pre-shrunk hickory stripe selvedge denim in 13 oz.Shrink-to-Fit™ with a vintage-inspired wash. This denim was developed specifically for this collection. It also features classic details such as the Levi’ s® red tab, signature shank button, two-hose back patch, and arquette stitching on the back pockets. The threads and shank buttons are also the same as those used in the archives from which this collaboration originated.

NIGO 557 HICKORY STRIPE TRUKER
The Trucker Jacket 557XX is made of 13-ounce hickory stripe selvedge denim, and like the 501®, all parts such as threads, patches, and tabs are pre-shrunk by matching them with specific ones and washing them in a vintage style.

Short campaign film based on childhood memories of NIGO®︎
On the occasion of the launch of the new Levi’s® x NIGO® collection, a short campaign film was released. The film is based on NIGO®’s own childhood memories under the theme of ” The Future is in the Past.
NIGO®︎ commented on the collaboration, ” The Future is in the Past, which is also the theme of my manufacturing, means “to create the future with an eye on the past. The Future is in the Past. The hickory stripe 501® that served as the basis for this collaboration was purchased at a thrift store around 1995, and I have never seen it anywhere else since then. It’s been 36 years since I wore my first pair of 5 01®s, only 36 years shy of 150 years, but I feel very honored to be involved in this way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of501®.” He commented.
