The revolutionary talent who launched ” Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh ” in 2013 and took the street fashion industry by storm has passed away. On November 28, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the parent company of Louis Vuitton, released a statement saying that Mr. Virgil passed away at a hospital in Texas, the United States. In the early hours of November 29 (Japan time), a message of condolence from the family was posted on Mr. Virgil’s own Instagram account. According to the post, Mr. Virgil had been battling a malignant tumor for over two years, which was diagnosed in 2019. The name of the disease was not disclosed at the time, but he took a medical leave of absence in 2019 due to illness and returned to work a few months later. Mr. Virgil became the first black designer for Louis Vuitton in 2018. The news of his death comes amidst a major change in fashion history and expectations for a wide range of activities in the future.
