Louis Vuitton, led by Virgil Abloh, whose new collection “Message in a Bottle” was recently shown in a movie, presented the men’s 2021SS pre-collection. For his new collection, Virgil reinterpreted the idea of pre-collection in menswear. The clothes and accessories designed for the Maison serve to convey diversity, unity, and inclusiveness. This collection focuses on the weather, which everyone is aware of when deciding what to wear for the day. The colors are mainly dark tones reminiscent of midwinter, as the collection will be released during the cold season. Jacquard woven pants, denim pants, and windbreakers with a camouflage-like monogram leaf pattern add a realistic atmosphere to the collection.
Also, the green quilted gilet and The timeless design based on the monogram flower, used for the green quilted gilet and the lining of the double-faced coat, appears throughout the collection. The light and colorful monogram motifs on the set-up reflect the transition from winter to summer. The monogram motif on this item is drawn in multi-pastel crayon and was inspired by the debossed LV initials that were placed in Virgil’s office at the Maison’s headquarters. Furthermore, rain hats and berets permeate the essence of the collection, opening the door to the freedom of symbolism and a sense of belonging.
