Men’s winter fashion – Standard outerwear (5) “Duffle Coat
A type of outerwear that is said to have originated around 1820 as a winter coat worn by fishermen who risked their lives fishing in the raging North Sea in winter. Later, there is an interesting history that the duffle coat developed as a military coat as well, as British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, known as “Monty” during World War II, was a fan of the duffle coat. The toggle to fasten the front opening and the large hood are distinctive features of this design. It is one of the most popular outerwear for a wide range of occasions, from uniforms for high school students to elegant casual styles for adults.
