Consuming too much protein-rich foods such as meat is itself a cause of gas accumulation, but fatty parts are especially troublesome. Excessive fat is the most likely to cause indigestion, which can lead to bad fart smells and stomach upset. The recommended daily intake of fat is basically 40~60g, but it is important to be aware of the fact that many foods and seasonings contain a surprisingly large amount of fat, and it is not uncommon to exceed the recommended intake in no time.

Artificial sweeteners, which are famous for being zero-calorie, can be divided into two types: sugar alcohols and synthetic sweeteners. One type of sugar alcohols, such as xylitol, mannitol, sorbitol, maltitol, and erythritol, cannot be digested well by some people and fermentation by bacteria can cause gas and gastrointestinal discomfort. Foods containing carbohydrates that are not easily absorbed into the blood from the gastrointestinal tract, or not absorbed at all, are called FODMAPs. The disadvantage of this characteristic is that they draw water into the intestines and promote fermentation by bacteria, creating gas in the intestines. Garlic is high in such FODMAPs. It is said that one should refrain from eating several cloves of garlic. It is especially stimulating, so people with irritable bowel syndrome should be careful. However, garlic also has a nourishing and tonic effect, so if you do not feel any abnormalities in your body, it is recommended to take it in moderation.

However, if you are not lactose tolerant, remember not to add milk products or too much artificial sweetener.
