In fact, Kenzo Takada’s most beloved animal was not a tiger!
Many people must think of the tiger motif that was popular when KENZO’s creative directors were Umberto Lyon and Carol Lim. Kenzo Takada, the founder of the brand, often used nature and the animals that inhabit it as a source of inspiration for his designs, and the tiger motif has been used in all forms in his collections since the brand was founded.
Such a story might lead you to think that Kenzo Takada’s favorite animal was the tiger, but in fact, it was the elephant that he loved the most.

KENZO’s new icon is the elephant!
The elephant motif was introduced in the 2023 SS collection “Kenzo Varsity Jungle,” for which NIGO is the creative director, and was inspired by the sailor tattoos of the 1950s and incorporated into the graphics.

Be especially careful when choosing a size for T-shirts with the word “oversize” in the model name!
KENZO offers T-shirts with “Oversize Fit” in the model name. Compared to the Classic Fit, the Oversize Fit T-shirts seem to be designed with 4cm wider shoulders and body width. The length remains the same, so it is different from simply sizing up.
