Characteristics of Birkenstock Kyouto ” (4) “Material
Although it has been on the market for a shorter period of time than other standard models, the kimono-inspired playful design is a popular model, and the lineup includes a variety of material variations that change the look of the item depending on the texture of the material.
Typical materials of Birkenstock “Kyouto” (1) “Nubuck/Suede Leather
This model combines nubuck leather and suede leather in different materials of the same color. Both nubuck leather and suede leather are brushed materials, but nubuck leather is brushed leather with the silver side (surface) of the leather removed, while suede leather is brushed leather with the floor side (back) of the leather smoothed. Suede leather is characterized by its durability and resistance to stretching because of the gin. This type uses such durable raised leather, suede leather, for the strap portion, which is easily subjected to tension when putting on and taking off.

Typical material of Birkenstock Kyouto ” (2) “Suede leather / Birko-Flor®”.
The upper is made of high-quality suede leather, and the strap is made of Birko-Flor®, a synthetic leather originally developed by Birkenstock. It has flexibility and elasticity, and while its texture and appearance are comparable to genuine leather, the backside is made of fleece fabric, which boasts high functionality with good breathability. There are many variations of Bilkoflow’s material texture, such as smooth leather style, shrink leather style with a grain (fine wrinkles in leather), and nubuck leather style, and the printed leather with a camouflage pattern used in Kyouto gives an accentuated impression.

Typical material of Birkenstock Kyouto ” (3) “Natural leather
The natural leather used in Kyouto is “molded shrink leather” with deeply engraved grains (leather wrinkles). Although it is the hardest type of leather among the leathers we have introduced so far, it is characterized by the fact that it becomes softer and more comfortable as it is worn and cared for, just like general leather shoes, and fits the foot comfortably. Since vegetable tanned leather is used, the aging process is more pronounced, and the material allows the wearer to enjoy the aging process of the leather even while wearing the sandals.
