What is BIRKENSTOCK?
Birkenstock is one of the oldest shoe manufacturers in the world, with a history of nearly 250 years based in Germany. However, due to its long history, there are no archived documents or collections relating to the early days of the brand, and in fact, the origins of the brand are vague. The origin of the brand is attributed to Johann Adam Birkenstock, who was registered as a “subject shoemaker” in the church archives of the city of Langen-Berkheim, Hesse. However, no records of the next 122 years, about half of Birkenstock’s history, survive.
Then Konrad Birkenstock, grandson of the founder Johann and a “Shoemeister,” a German national qualification, opened two shoe stores in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1896, and began manufacturing and selling the world’s first flexible footbeds. He started manufacturing and selling the world’s first flexible footbeds. This was the forerunner of today’s ” Birkenstock ” brand and the footbeds that are the most distinctive feature of the company’s shoes.
The top casual sandal design
Birkenstock expanded its marketing outside of Germany, crossing borders throughout Europe and the U.S., and entered the Japanese market in the 1980’s. At the time, Germany was a “medical powerhouse,” and the company was known for its “Birkenstock” shoes. At the time, the brand slowly gained popularity as “comfort sandals from Germany, a medical powerhouse.” The company’s casual, simple, original designs made of luxurious leather materials that are comfortable to wear and do not tire easily, quickly became known as a fashion item.
