The Air Jordan 1 High 85 Neutral Grey is one of the most famous Air Jordans of all time and laid the foundation for the Air Jordan brand. The ” AIR JORDAN 1 HI
The original Air Jordan sneaker and still overwhelmingly popular today is the ” AIR JORDAN 1 HI. The initial model was released on October 15, 1984, as the first signature shoe of NBA legend Michael Jordan. At the time, Michael Jordan wanted to sign with Adidas, but Nike, which was looking to enter the basketball industry, wanted to sign the superstar, so they offered $250,000, more than double the top player’s market price of $100,000 (approximately ¥10 million). Thus, Nike signed a contract with Mr. Michael Jordan, leading to the birth of the legendary sneaker.
Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro Bred(2013)
After signing a contract with Nike, Michael Jordan immediately started wearing the Air Jordan 1 High from the opening game of the season. The coloring he wore in his debut game was the red-and-black model called “BRED,” which is still very popular today. At the time, simple white bashes were the norm, and NBA commissioner David Stern fined players $5,000 for each time they wore shoes with too flashy a coloring, as it was against the rules. Nike was so surprised that they allowed Michael Jordan to wear the Air Jordan 1 even though they had to shoulder the fine every time he played a game. The story of the fine became a topic of conversation in the U.S., and combined with Michael Jordan’s great success, Air Jordan quickly became a household name. At the time, commercials featuring the fine story were also aired.
The “Air Jordan 1” is known for its many famous colors, including the original “BRED” color. The “CHICAGO”, which was famously worn by Michael Jordan in his retirement game, and the “ROYAL”, which looks like the red part of the BRED has been changed to blue, are among the many famous colors of the “Air Jordan 1”. There is no end to the number of models that are sold at premium prices in the secondary market. In the past few years, there has been a series of releases of collaborative models with famous designers and artists that have attracted much attention.
Off-White x Nike The 10 Air Jordan 1 Retro High Chicago
The Air Jordan 1 is currently available in a variety of silhouettes, including high-cut, mid-cut, and low-cut models, but the most popular by far is the high-cut model worn by Michael Jordan in his debut game. The design is very similar to other models such as the “Dunk” and “Big Nike,” but the “wing logo,” which combines a basketball and a wing on the calf, gives the shoe an originality that cannot be found anywhere else. The “wing logo” was inspired by a replica of the U.S. Air Force pilot wing that Nike’s creative director at the time, Peter Moore, saw a child wearing while flying. The design was completed. It is now a well-known story among sneaker enthusiasts that the original design of the wing logo was drawn on a napkin.
