What is a mock neck?
A mock neck is a knit with a neckline that does not fold back like a turtleneck, but instead stands up along the neck. Some brands and suppliers call them “half-necks. The term “mock turtleneck” is an abbreviation of “mock turtleneck,” and since “mock” means “fake,” the name “mock turtleneck” was coined to mean “fake turtleneck. The neck design is mainly used for sweaters, but nowadays it is also used for sweatshirts and cut-and-sewns, etc. It looks elegant when worn alone, and also looks great inside a jacket or coat, so why not try it?

In fact, there are other designs than mock necklines that do not fold back the collar. It is important to be aware of the different types in order to find the one you like best.
High Neck Knitwear
A high neck, as the name suggests, is a collar design in which the collar is set high. Since it is not long enough to be folded back, and its features are very similar to those of a mock neck, it is sometimes confused with a mock neck. Incidentally, originally, mock necks were considered to have higher collars, but it is now widely recognized that high necks have higher collars.
Bottle Neck
A bottleneck is a design in which the collar stands up narrowly like the mouth of a bottle. Bottle necks are also said to be a type of high neck, and among them, they are shorter and have a stronger, cleaner look. In menswear, it is sometimes used synonymously with mock neck.
Funnel Neck
The funnel neck, named after the word “funnel” meaning a funnel, is a type of high neck that covers the neck in a high, tubular shape. This neck design is often used for outerwear as well as sweaters and sweatshirts. It is characterized by a slightly wider collar than other types of necklines, and is suitable for those who want to create a relaxed look. It is also recommended for those who do not like a feeling of pressure around the neck.
