In 1987, illustrator Hiroshi Okamoto released a limited edition of 300 A-2 flight jackets as a project for POPEYE magazine. (The company was established in 1990). The brand has grown to mainly offer military, American casual, and motorcycle wear. The brand has three lines: “Real McCoy” for military wear, “Joe McCoy” for work wear, and ” Buco ” for riders’ wear. Buco’s leather jackets are particularly popular.

TOYS McCOY was launched in 1996 by Hiroshi Okamoto, one of the founders of Real McCoy, as an independent brand from the former McCoy. The collection is based on the theme of “products that should be called works of art that create a new trend, creating realistic items with functionality in mind, rather than simply reprinting vintage items.” The company’s activities include the development of “McQueen Clothing,” “McHill,” and “Beck,” which are officially licensed products of Steve McQueen.
