THE ONITSUKA is a new reinterpretation of ONITSUKA, Onitsuka Tiger’s leather shoe line that has been around since 1949, and is the first capsule collection in the line’s history. The collection was launched in collaboration with Nick Wooster, one of the world’s leading iconic figures in men’s fashion. This collection will feature a minimalist color scheme based on military green and black, and will be styled with a bomber jacket and skirt pants look with heavy shoes. At the launch event of the pop-up store opening at Shibuya Parco on March 17 (Fri.), Nick himself was on hand to show off the above styles in person. Nick said that he particularly likes the olive bomber jacket from the collection.
Apparel items included military-style three-dimensional cigar pockets on the arms and chest and tops with exquisite silhouettes that had shoulders that fell just right. Nick Wooster said of the collection, “When I create a product, I approach it by creating an overall style. For this capsule collection, I assembled a bomber jacket and skirt pants as a base. The colors are white, black, and military green, with a minimalist color palette to unify the style. For the shoes, I took a history lesson from Onitsuka Tiger, which has been around since 1949, and updated it with my own interpretation of the classic Onitsuka style. says Onitsuka Tiger’s founder, Mr. Onitsuka.
To celebrate the release of the capsule collection, a pop-up store “THE ONITSUKA × NICK WOOSTER LIMITED STORE” will be opened on the 1st floor of Shibuya Parco in Tokyo for 10 days from March 17 (Fri.) to 26 (Sun.).
