This is an upcycling project in collaboration with artists. The theme is “Lacoste’s secondhand clothing gets a second life.
The “REGENERATION” project will start in April 2021 as a Lacoste-like environmental initiative. Under the theme of “Lacoste’s Secondhand Clothing Gets a Second Life,” used clothing collected from consumers is regenerated by the leading artists of the generation and brought back to life. The shelves and racks for sales are designed by Fuyuki Shimazu, a corrugated cardboard artist who “creates something precious out of unwanted cardboard.
Artist Marie, who participated in this project , created unique shirts, bucket hats, stuffed animals with crocodile motifs, and other playful items by applying patchwork and dyeing to collected used clothing.
Artist Hikaru Matsubara, who has a unique background as a fisherman, has created a lineup of T-shirts and polo shirts, each silk-screened by hand with a motif drawn especially for this exhibition.
Each piece is a one-and-only art piece that can only be obtained here. Lacoste’s new approach to the environment, proposed with the cooperation of today’s hottest artists, is a project that is uniquely modern, creating new value out of unwanted items. A portion of the proceeds from this project will be donated to the Japan Diversity Sports Association, a non-profit organization.
