The “CM996” reproduces the silhouette of the original model in every detail
In 2019, under the banner of the “Year of 9’s,” New Balance will continue to update the brand’s iconic “99X” series. Following the “997” in the spring, the “996” will be introduced for the fall/winter season. 996, the third model of the 99X series, debuted in 1988 in Made in U.S.A. and was created as a running shoe on paved surfaces. Its comfort and design have made it not only a running shoe but also a long-loved everyday shoe, and it has become a long-selling model that continues to this day as a New Balance standard.
The new “CM996” is a lower-priced version of the “MRL996” that more closely resembles the silhouette and details of the original U.S. version of the “996. The inserts have been changed to a PU material, and the midsole has been upgraded to a two-layer EVA construction with different hardness to provide both better stability and cushioning. The outsole design has also been updated to improve stability. As a limited edition version, the shoe box is from the original release. The shoes are available in two vintage colors, gray and navy, as well as multi-colors with different colors on the left and right sides.
