ACQUA DI PARMA was founded in 1916 as a perfume supplier in the old town of Parma, Italy. Through its colognes, the company proposed fresh and light fragrances to the fragrance industry, which at the time was dominated by heavy fragrances, and this led to a huge movement. From the 1930s to the 1950s in particular, the number of celebrities and the upper class patronized the brand, and it is said that this was the golden age of the brand. In 1993, the brand was revived by Luca di Montezemolo, former Ferrari chairman, Diego Della Valle, who heads Tod’s, and Paolo Borgomanello, a major shareholder of La Perla, and in 2001, it became part of LVMH.
