What are the traditional manufacturing methods and three typical materials that form Johnston's scarves?

Johnstons” is a brand that comes up as a leading choice when looking for a high-quality scarf. Scarves manufactured with the finest materials including cashmere boast the highest quality both as a warm-weather item and as a fashion item. This time, we focus on Johnstons’ mufflers and introduce their charms!

What is “Johnston’s”, a long-established brand that handles high-quality scarves through integrated in-house manufacturing?

Johnstons was founded in 1797 in Elgan, located in the northeast of Scotland, and boasts a history of more than 200 years. Since its establishment, the Johnston and Harrison families have been involved in the management of the company, and have continued to produce items using cashmere, merino wool, lamb’s wool, and other high-end materials. Even today, the company is one of the few manufacturers in the U.K. to have an integrated production plant that handles everything in-house, from the careful selection of raw wool to spinning, weaving, and knitting.

In the late 1970s, the company established its own factory in Hawick, the heart of cashmere knitwear production. The high quality cashmere products manufactured here are highly acclaimed around the world and supported by top designers and luxury maisons. The two factories in Elgan and Hawick employ approximately 750 skilled staff, who carefully select raw materials based on the company’s management philosophy of “only the best is everything. In 2013, the company was granted a Royal Warrant by Prince Charles.
