What is the difference between a casual suit, business suit, and formal suit and what are the appropriate occasions?

A suit is a common piece of equipment for businessmen. The term “suit” can be broken down into a variety of different types, from suits suitable for formal occasions, to business suits, to casual suits that can be worn on weekends without feeling uncomfortable. In this issue, we focus on the differences between them and the appropriate occasions!

What is a suit in the broadest sense?

A suit is a set of upper and lower garments, with the jacket and pants made of the same fabric. There is also a set-up suit in which the jacket and pants can be worn separately, but basically, it is a set of upper and lower garments. In Japan, it is mainly worn at weddings, funerals, and business occasions.

There are multiple types of suits, and the appropriate occasion for wearing each is completely different

Even though they are all called suits, they vary in design and taste, and there are certain occasions for which they are appropriate. For example, the effortless casual suit is widely popular in Japan these days. These suits are made of functional materials such as nylon or rough-feeling materials such as linen or cotton, and have drawcords or elastic shirring on the pants, giving them a casual atmosphere through their many details. Of course, this is not to be worn to a funeral or other formal occasion, and although these casual suits are increasingly being worn in business situations, it is not 100% business-appropriate.
