From Veterinarian to Artist. Mr. “Ouma” creates artworks based on the theme of “cells.

Mr. Ouma has a unique background as a former veterinarian from Tokyo. While a veterinarian, he began drawing pictures of his deceased patients and sending them to their families. He started his art activities in order to fulfill the essence of a veterinarian’s job, ” healing the human heart. Currently, he is creating works as a “cell artist” on the theme of “cells,” the smallest unit of life.

Swatch Group has a close relationship with art, supporting art contests and events. In Shanghai, the Swatch Group operates “The Swatch Art Peace Hotel,” a facility to support artists’ activities, where selected artists from all over the world live and work while developing their careers through events and exchanges with other artists. The Swatch Art Peace Hotel provides an environment where selected artists from all over the world can live and work and significantly develop their careers as artists through events and interaction with other artists. Applications for the live-in program can be made through The Swatch Art Peace Hotel’s special website. Incidentally, Mr. Ouma, the organizer of this exhibition, is one of the artists who actually stayed at this facility for 6 months.
