The CITIZEN, a high-quality watch collection from CITIZEN, is now available in a limited edition model equipped with the high-precision optical power generation Eco-Drive system and featuring a Tosa Washi Japanese paper dial. This watch, which embodies the fusion of the CITIZEN brand’s proud high technology and Tosa craftsmanship, will be available in a limited edition of 400 pieces at 440,000 yen (tax included) from July 8, 2021 (Thursday).

This limited edition watch from THE CITIZEN incorporates the spirit of Japanese culture with a face made of “Tosa Tengu-Jo,” which is said to be the thinnest Japanese paper in the world. Based on washi paper, which has been used since ancient times to let light into a room, the watch features a jet-black washi dial layered with delicate lamé, a ring on the back with a ray of gold, and a second hand. The combination of luminescent indexes and hour and minute hands, which glow blue in the dark, expresses the nighttime sea reflecting shining stars and illuminated by the lights of towns and lighthouses on the opposite shore, symbols of people’s lives, as well as luminous creatures in the sea, such as noctilucent insects.
