Defensive fall/winter business casual style 2Suits & Turtleneck Sweaters
Speaking of suits, not only are they worn neatly with a dress shirt tied up, but in recent years, dress-down outfits with knitwear have been spreading worldwide. The standard is the combination of a turtleneck, as shown in the first and second pictures in the gallery below, which is an outfit that sums up an elegant impression despite being called dress-down. On the other hand, a mock-neck knit like the third one in the gallery below or a crew-neck knit like the fourth one gives a more sporty and casual impression. When we asked stylist Mr. Miyazaki for his opinion on this combination, he replied that matching the fabric texture of the suit with the fabric texture of the knit would give a more natural and smart look. High-gauge knitwear is a good match for so-called “combed suits,” which are generally worn by most businessmen and have a smooth texture. A middle-gauge knit will work well with a woolen suit with a bristly, stiff texture, such as a tweed suit.
Offensive Fall/Winter Business Casual Style 1Jacket & chinos with center crease
If you want to dress down the jacket style, you should consider incorporating cotton pants, including chinos. For business casual wear, it is best to choose dress wear items with a smart silhouette with a center crease, rather than work wear items with a chunky silhouette. Black, dark gray, or navy cotton pants are good choices, but as shown in the snap below, beige or white pants will give your winter business casual style a fresh new look that tends to be all about dark tones and boredom.
Aggressive business casual style in autumn and winter 2Tied-up shirt & shawl collar knit
Next, I would like to introduce a style that is just like an aggressive business casual look. Although this is not a style that can be worn in every situation, we would like to encourage you to consider wearing this style when the occasion calls for it, while keeping TPO in mind. As shown in the image below, a shawl-collar cardigan is worn in place of a jacket. The collar gives it a more formal look than a regular cardigan. The shawl-collar cardigan in the image below is a gown-type shawl-collar cardigan, and it is an attractive piece with an air that falls somewhere between relaxed and elegant.
Aggressive Autumn/Winter Business Casual Style 3Jacket & Jeans
Finally, we introduce an aggressive look that incorporates jeans, the opposite of dress wear. For business casual wear, it is recommended to choose denim that is not excessively faded or damaged. For the footwear, it is easy to go well with external-blade shoes, suede loafers, or side-gore boots. In the snapshots in the gallery below, some of the jeans are styled with slightly tapered, narrow jeans, but the current trend for business casual jeans is for straight silhouettes like the 501.
