Inspired by the square-toe boots worn by the cavalry during the American Civil War, the full-length boots with two metal rings and leather straps introduced by the long-established boot brand “Frye,” founded in 1863, are believed to be the original harness boots. Although harness boots have a strong image of rugged biker boots, many of them have a high heel and are angled in the style of cowboy or Cuban heel boots. In recent years, elegant harness boots have been introduced by Maison brands such as Saint Laurent’s Wyatt.
