The regimental stripe pattern is often seen in the coordination of Japanese businessmen. The stripe pattern, which consists of a diagonal line running down to the left, was originally based on the British military flag, and originated as a tie that was matched to the uniforms of troops in different colors for different ranks. Later, it became popular as a fashion item when it was adopted as a school tie for the uniforms of British private universities.
