Among Vans’ famous masterpieces, we would like to introduce the SK8-HI, a high-cut sneaker commonly known as the “Hi-Top” or “Skate-Hi,” which represents the brand along with the SLIP-ON, ERA, AUTHENTIC, and OLD SKOOL. The SK8-HI was born more than 40 years ago in 1978. At the time, Vans already had the Era and Old Skool in its lineup, and they were highly favored by skaters in California. Based on the old-school style, the Skate Hi had an upper that extended to the ankle, and with its excellent design, it quickly became popular not only among skaters but also among BMX riders. Incidentally, the name “SK8” is used because the “et” part of the word “skate” in English is pronounced like the number 8 (eight).
