Globe-Trotter is a British suitcase brand founded in 1897 by Englishman David Nelken. The brand name comes from the word “globe-trotting,” a popular phrase in the 19th century. While today’s suitcases are made of aluminum, polycarbonate, or nylon, Globe-Trotter’s most distinctive feature is that they are made of “paper,” a material invented in England in the 1850s called “Vulcan Fiber,” which is made of several layers of special paper coated with resin.
