Nike’s retro running sneaker “Challenger OG” is back in bright colors!
Released in 1979, the Nike Challenger is a classic sneaker of the same generation as popular models such as the Tailwind and Daybreak. It gained popularity for its revolutionary zigzag dove pattern that made it easy to adjust the laces to the width of the foot, providing runners with a new level of comfort and fit. This time around, this Challenger is being revived in a form that mimics the original design.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been rolling out the waffle sole models in good form,” said Nike senior global marketing manager, David Harris, “and we’re excited to bring the Challenger back to the market. We’ve been rolling out the waffle sole model in good shape over the past few years,” said Rory Fraser, senior global product manager for Nike. He added, “After the reintroduction of the Tailwind OG, the Waffle Racer and the Daybreak, we wanted to roll out models from the same era as these, but with a slightly different upper construction. The Challenger’s upper has more panels and more material transitions, allowing us to play around and use materials and colors in new ways than ever before. It will also give classic lovers something different to add to their closets.” The company has high expectations for the revival of the Challenger OG, and the new collection will be a great success.
