Named “Godzilla Mules” on its own! Emporio Armani’s latest shoes to aim for now!

Mules are currently dominating the latest shoe trends. Birkenstock’s “Boston” sandals dominate the category, but luxury brands such as Balenciaga, Gucci, and Marni, as well as sports brands such as Nike, New Balance, and Adidas, are all expanding their offerings. In the midst of all this, Emporio Armani’s Wave mules, launched for the 2023 Spring/Summer collection, have a design reminiscent of “Godzilla,” and it’s kind of cool.

The jagged edges on the rubber mules look like Godzilla’s scales…

While taking snaps near the venue after the Emporio Armani show at Milan Fashion Week, I noticed many men wearing shoes that caught my attention. There is an awareness that mules are trendy shoes, but what caught the attention of the interview team was a design formed in the shape of the scales of that monster Godzilla. Rubber mules are often minimalist in design, but these “Godzilla Mules” had a unique presence that radiated a different atmosphere in the fashion world.

At Pitti and Milan in June 2023, I saw firsthand the mule trend, as there were so many men wearing Birkenstock Boston’s, but it was the Emporio Armani mules that caught my eye (which, based on first impressions, I took the liberty of calling “Godzilla Mules I immediately remembered seeing them at an exhibition in Japan in the winter of 2022. Everyone was wearing them in a cool way, but the man in the first snap in particular had a very good balance, and the jagged design of these mules accenting his all-black outfit was superb.

EMPORIO ARMANI mules satisfy the desire to “not be seen with others.

The official name is “Mule Wave Design. The name is probably derived from the wavy shape of the upper. Although it looks quite challenging when seen by itself, the snap above should show that it is an item that can be easily coordinated with your outfit. If you are looking for a pair of mules that are different from Birkenstock’s Boston, and that will not be worn by others, Emporio Armani’s “Godzilla Mules” would be a good candidate.

I actually tried on the black ones at Emporio Armani’s store, and while they have volume and a distinctive design presence, I had the impression that they were surprisingly easy to match. The heel is high, so you don’t have to worry about your feet falling off, which is often the case with mules or other hanging type sandals!
