The material used for the double-knee is the same Dickies original material as the 874, ” T/C twill. The fabric is a blend of 65% polyester with shape-memory properties and 35% cotton for softness, and while it is extremely durable against wrinkling and shrinkage, it is soft against the skin. Nevertheless, it is a thick 8.5 oz. fabric, so the texture is such that it is somewhat difficult to put on immediately after purchase. For this reason, many fans put them in the washing machine or expose them to salt water before wearing to soften the texture.
