The history, features, and recommended models of Lee's famous "101-J" denim jacket!

Two rounded flap pockets that slope inward!

The two flap pockets on the chest are an essential detail of the 101-J. They have a rounded design that slopes inward, and are set at an angle that makes it easy to insert one’s hands into them. In addition, two twin stitches extend from the pockets to the hem, creating a visual accent.

The next feature is the use of left-hand twill denim, which is synonymous with the brand. While most jeans are right-twill weave, the left-twill weave is softer to the touch because the direction of yarn twist and weave are aligned. In addition, the color fades more easily in the vertical direction over time, allowing the wearer to enjoy the so-called “warp fading,” which is typical of Lee jeans.

Features of Lee '101-J' 3Short length and slim silhouette with a styling effect

In terms of the silhouette, the short length and wide waistband are the main features. By keeping the length short and the band at the hem thicker, the upper half of the body is compacted and the inverted triangle line is naturally emphasized. An adjuster belt is also provided on both sides, allowing the fit to be fine-tuned, another practical point.

Lee '101-J' Feature 4Different tag designs for different eras

The different tag designs for different eras are not to be overlooked: the so-called “red tag” from the 1940s does not include a lot number, while the “red tag” from the 1950s does. In the 1960s, a triangular tag was temporarily adopted. The differences in the tags are a source of identification for vintage enthusiasts, and the subtle individuality of the 101-J, depending on the year of production, is one of the joys of choosing this model.
