What is New Era?
Founded in 1920 by German immigrant Erhard Cook, the headwear brand “NEWERA” celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020. In 1993, New Era acquired the exclusive right to manufacture caps for all 30 Major League Baseball (MLB) teams and their minor league affiliate teams, establishing a firm status as a “pioneer of baseball caps. In 2012, the brand became the official sideline cap of the National Football League (NFL), and in 2016, it became the official court cap of the National Basketball Association (NBA), making it the only brand in sports history to have exclusive rights to caps for the three major leagues in the United States. It became the only brand to have exclusive rights to caps in all three major U.S. leagues.

New Era’s classic caps ① “59fifty fitted cap
The 59FIFTY, the flagship model of New Era and an icon of sports and street culture, is the perfection of baseball caps, established as a 6-panel x flat visor style through repeated improvements since its birth in 1954. It is said that the name of the model like this part number is derived from the wool fabric number “5950” that was used when the cap was first developed. The model’s main features include a structured high crown, eyelets for ventilation, and a flat visor for protection from the sun. In addition, the “fitted size,” a unique sizing system with 1 cm increments, allows athletes to choose the cap that best fits them to improve their performance.

The low-profile 59FIFTY retains all the features of the 59FIFTY, but with a low, sloping crown and a slightly curved visor, making it an improved model for those who find that the high-crown 59FIFTY does not fit well with gaps in the forehead and frontal area. It is slightly larger than the original 59FIFTY.

Designed as a tribute to the classic baseball cap style worn in the early to mid-20th century, the 9TWENTY has an adjustable, relaxed fit that can be rolled up and pocketed, and is made of soft washed cotton to keep it from losing its shape. The look is vintage-inspired and is also known as a dad hat overseas.
