Detachable design without brand name1, Calendar tag and 4-point stitching
The calendar tag and the 4-point stitching on the back that holds it in place are known as synonymous with Maison Margiela. The tag is not branded and is sewn on so that it can be easily removed. This is an expression of the brand’s philosophy, “We want people to look at the clothes themselves, not the brand name. The numbers “0-23” printed on the tag are codes that classify items by line. The “10” indicates the men’s collection, and the “6” indicates the second line, “MM6 Maison Margiela,” to which the men’s T-shirts belong.
The structure and texture of the clothing and materials are reproduced in print 2, Trompe l'oeil that creates a displacement in the familiar structure
At first glance, the dress is embroidered with sequins. In reality, however, everything is composed of flat prints. This “trompe-l’oeil” technique is also applied to T-shirts, giving wit to a simple item. This season, MM6 is again offering a T-shirt with the “Broken Plate” trompe-l’oeil print on the chest that appeared in the Fall-Winter 1989 show.
Using seam allowances and inside pockets as design 3, Inside-out, revealing the structure of the back of the garment
The design dares to show elements that should be on the inside of a jacket or coat, such as pockets, seam allowances, and tags, on the outside. Martin has developed an ” inside-out ” approach, in which the inside parts of a jacket or coat, such as the seams, tags, and inside pockets, which are normally invisible, are shown on the outside as part of the design. T-shirts using the “ Inside Out ” technique are also being released for the spring/summer 2025 season.
